Country Outfitter Women's Boots on A Growing Season
Yeah, yeah, there’s a Country Outfitter boot giveaway at the end, but I can’t do it without telling a boot story first.

Yes, Farmers Wear Cowboy Boots

I’m not sure why it is, but our rural Iowa farm family was a little bit country and western. I guess a lot of farm families were. Most of the men wore Western shirts, the kind with pearl snaps up the front and mostly Wranglers jeans. Many of the farmers also wore cowboy boots, my dad included. My little brother had a series of large cowboy hats, and it was a pretty big deal when he got a real calf roping rope for his birthday.
One of my fondest memories of childhood was my Dad getting new boots. He pretty much always had just two pairs of shoes. He had his old cowboy boots that he wore for farm and outdoor work, even to mow the lawn or chase cattle in. His other pair of shoes were also boots, nice ones for church or other “dress up” occasions. When the work boots wore out, the dress boots became work boots. This was an occasion because often it meant a trip to the big city of Omaha to get Dad a new pair of boots at the monstrosity of a Western store in western Omaha.
I had several pair of cowboy boots as a kid but the ones I remember best were tan suede, rounded toes, with white vinyl flower cut outs on the shaft. My mom got the exact same pair in gray suede. A few years ago I got a pair of standard brown, inexpensive pair of cowboy boots to go along with my Robert Earl Keen obsession.
Red Cowboy Boots at Razorback GameBut y’all, I’m telling ya’, I’ve never had a pair of boots like these beautiful red Ariat Women’s Heritage Red Deertan boots that Country Outfitter gave me to review. I recently wore them to a Razorback tailgate event and got a last-minute invite to go to the stadium for the big game. Those boots not only looked good, they were comfortable enough to walk in for a couple of miles to the stadium and stomp through the puddles of a rainy game. Country Outfitter also has men’s, women’s, and kids’ boots, and they aren’t all cowboy boots.
