One Big Boy and Three Little People

The idea is to do a photograph on “Wordless Wednesday,” but have you met me? When have I ever been wordless?

This is a picture taken this last weekend when my brother, sister, their spouses,  our mom, and I had basically just one day to gather with our families in Iowa to catch up with each other. For so many years I had the only child in the family, but now my brother and sister have added three so we have a bunch! It’s just such a joy, truly, to watch all the kids play together. My tall teenager is as sweet as he can be with a three-year-old and two two-year-olds. They love him and he will do anything for them. It’s how I know he’ll grow up to be a good man–he’s kind to small children and old people! It’s also just a blast to see all these little people who look and act so much like we did. It’s a bit like reliving our own childhoods.

This is as close as I got to getting a picture of the four kids together in the hammock. It was a blur of motion and impossible to get even a split second of them together. Despite the lack of photographic evidence,  the kids had a great time together and I love our time together.
